John Buehler PhD: Currently serves as the conductor of the Cannon Beach Chorus and the former director of Choral Studies at Baker University. He formerly held the Youse-Rice Chair in Choral Music and was also Chairman of the Department of Music at Baker University. He is currently a Certified Music Adjudicator in Oregon and serves Oregon ACDA as the Community Chorus R&S Chair. He earned degrees in music education and choral conducting from Fort Hays State University, Wichita State University, and the University of Missouri-Kansas City. For twenty-five years, has directed Baker University choirs in concert tours across the United States, and in Europe and Asia. Prior to joining the Baker University faculty in 1984. Dr. Buehler taught choral music in the high schools of Kansas and he continues an active schedule of school choral clinics and adjudication assignments. He received the 1995-1996 Exemplary Teacher Award presented by The Board of Higher Education and Ministries of the United Methodist Church and Baker University, the 2009 Baker University Trustee Medallion, and the 2009 Harry Robert Wilson Award presented by the Kansas Choral Directors Association.
Tevis Dooley: Born Agana, Guam in 1928, submarine sailor in WWII. A registered architect in California and Oregon. Former Cannon Beach City Council member. Resident of CB for 28 years.
Marlene Laws: Born in Cannon Beach, attended Cannon Beach grade school through the eight grade. Graduated from Seaside High School and attended the University of Oregon. Worked for the Seaside School District as a teacher's assistant for eight years and as a secretary for over twenty years. My husband and I opened and operated Country Giving Gift Shop in Tolovana Park for seventeen years. I have volunteered for several groups in Cannon Beach including the History Center, Library Club, City Potlucks, Cannon Beach Community Church and the Food Pantry. My husband and I are also adopted grandparents for a local family from Mexico.
Jan Smith: Moved with her family to Cannon Beach in 1982. Her oldest child entered kindergarten that year. All three children attended Cannon Beach Elementary School. Jan and her husband, Gary, started Cannon Beach Electric and have operated the company since 1982. She has volunteered extensively in the the community, including helping to form the Cannon Beach Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization., has assisted Seaside School District pass several bond levies, a member of PEO, a group of women earning money to help provide scholarships to women, allowing them to continue their education.
